What happens after I request an appointment?
You will be sent an email confirmation of your appointment along with a link to set up your HIPAA compliant patient portal where you can fill out forms prior to your appointment.
Appointment details
Please allow approximately one hour of your time for your consultation. Currently all appointments are by telehealth; however, if conditions allow an office location in northern Westchester County may be available. Due to licensure issues Nancy can only see patients who reside in New York State, Connecticut or other states that do not have licensure for genetic counseling.
Genetic counseling insurance coverage and billing
Currently, NCGenetics is out of network with all insurers; however, most private insurers will reimburse for genetic counseling services if you have out of network benefits. Genetic counseling is also eligible for health flexible spending account expenses. After your appointment you will be sent a "superbill" which provides all the details of your appointment including CPT and ICD10 codes which you can submit to your insurer for any out of network reimbursement or fulfillment of out of network deductible and/ or flexible spending plan.
The fee of $200 includes the following:
Initial telehealth consultation (45 mins. - 1 hour)
Results session by phone for negative or uncertain results
Results session by telehealth for positive results
Results report and summary patient letter
Detailed consultation and results note sent to physician
Facilitation of physician ordered testing
Assistance with insurance authorization for genetic testing
Genetic testing insurance coverage and billing
Genetic testing is typically covered by insurance when medically necessary and will be reviewed at your appointment. If you consent to genetic testing you will be informed by the lab regarding your out of pocket costs, if any, above $100. You will be billed for genetic testing by the selected lab. If not covered by insurance, most genetic testing costs $249.
