Nancy Cohen has over ten years’ experience as a genetic counselor with a focus on cancer counseling. She received her Master of Science degree in Human Genetics from the Joan H. Marks Graduate Program in Human Genetics at Sarah Lawrence College and her BA from Haverford College. She  is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and completed the City of Hope Advanced Course in Cancer Risk Assessment.

Ms. Cohen launched the cancer genetic counseling program at Northern Westchester Hospital where she initiated routine tumor testing for Lynch syndrome and patient enrollment in clinical genetics research. She routinely presents to medical professionals and community members regarding cancer genetic counseling and hereditary cancer syndromes. She is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC), the NSGC Familial Cancer Risk Counseling Special Interest Group, the Collaborative Group of the Americas on Inherited Gastrointestinal Cancer and the City of Hope Clinical Cancer Genomics Community of Practice.

In 2020 she decided to launch her own genetic counseling practice and created NCGenetics (Nancy Cohen Genetic Counseling, LLC). Then, Covid-19 hit and she realized the best way to provide high quality safe care for her patients was to perform genetic counseling remotely using secure video or phone calls--also called telegentics.  She reviewed and selected the best platforms and workflow processes to make sure patients have a seamless experience with genetic counseling and testing yet still receive a personal touch.
